Abstract: Global competence represents an individual’s ability to adapt to global developments, showing their awareness of global issues and their cross-cultural adaptability. However, there’s no unified definition for global competence yet, leading to varied interpretations and evaluations across studies. Terms like ’multicultural competence’ and ’global competence’ are often used interchangeably. Measuring global competence and its aspects can utilize both single-dimensional and multidimensional scales. Developing global competence can be achieved through classroom learning, exposure to local cultures, and cross-cultural interactions. Future research should integrate the multidimensionality and complexity of global competence, striving to develop effective assessment tools suitable for different cultures and educational systems.
